How to clip Twitch streams

Twitch's Clip button saves a short moment on Twitch. To turn stream moments into TikToks and Shorts you need the video, the streamer's permission, and an edit that works on a phone.
Clip a stream with AI →Twitch clips vs the whole stream
A Twitch clip is a short piece (up to a minute) that lives on Twitch. For posting elsewhere, clippers usually work from the full stream video: the streamer's VOD or highlight, an upload of the stream to YouTube, or a file the streamer provides. Always make sure the streamer allows clipping — many run clipping programs that pay for it.
Turning stream moments into TikToks
- 1
Get the video
Your own VOD, or a stream you have permission to clip, as a file or a YouTube link.
- 2
Find the moments
Reactions, funny fails, chat going wild, hot takes. AI can listen to the whole stream for you.
- 3
Frame it for a phone
Crop to 9:16 around the streamer, or keep the gameplay in a band with the face cam visible.
- 4
Caption and post
Big captions, a heading, and a caption with the streamer's name.
With Zlayo
Upload the stream or paste its YouTube link, pick how many clips and how long, and Zlayo finds the moments, frames them upright around whoever is talking, cuts dead air and adds captions. You can mark the face cam yourself if it guessed wrong.
Questions
Only with their permission; many streamers welcome clips or run paid clipping programs.
Twitch's own clips are up to 60 seconds; when you edit from the full stream, you choose any length.
