AI voice cloning makes a voice that sounds like you from a short recording, then reads any text you give it. Creators use it to narrate videos without recording every line. Here's how it works and how to do it well.

A cloning model listens to a sample of a voice — its pitch, tone, accent and rhythm — and then speaks new text in that voice. Modern "zero-shot" models need only a short clip, with no long training step: you record, it clones, and you can use the voice straight away.
How to record a good sample
- 10 to 30 seconds is plenty; quality matters more than length.
- A quiet room, the microphone close, no music or background noise.
- Only your voice — no second speaker, no echo.
- Speak the way you want the clone to sound: same energy, same pace.
- Read something natural, like a short story, rather than a list of words.
