How do I make a fake text conversation video?
3 min read · Updated October 30, 2026
Write the messages one per line, say who sends each one, and render. The messages appear one after another in a phone-style chat, optionally read aloud. Zlayo's Fake Texting tool does this.
Make a text video →Writing the chat
- Open with the line that makes people ask what happens.
- Keep each message short enough to read at a glance.
- End on the twist, not the explanation.
Pacing
Messages appear 0.3 seconds apart, stretched only when a message is narrated. A silent chat of short messages is therefore short on purpose.
Make it clear it's fiction
Say in the caption that the conversation is made up, especially if it looks like a real person's.
Questions
Yes. Edit opens the thread as layers in the editor.
Use invented names. Don't present a made-up conversation as a real one.
