How do I clip a video using timestamps?
3 min read · Updated October 30, 2026
Write down the start and end time of each moment, paste them in, and the tool cuts exactly those ranges. In Zlayo, each range becomes its own captioned vertical clip.
Clip from timestamps →Formats that work
- 1:07:12-1:08:21 (a range)
- 14:43 - 17:02 (a range with spaces)
- 14:43 (a single moment: Zlayo finds where the sentence ends)
Noting times as you go
Keep a notes file open while you watch or stream. Write the time whenever something happens, plus a few words. Later, paste the list.
In Zlayo
- 1
Open Auto-Clip
Pick your project and the video.
- 2
Paste your timestamps
Each range becomes one clip.
- 3
Press start
Only those parts are transcribed.
- 4
Review
Open any clip in the editor to adjust.
Questions
Yes. Ask for more clips than you gave times for and Zlayo finds the rest.
Ranges are cut exactly where given.
