How do I write a hook for a story video?

Start at the moment things go wrong, not the background. Give one concrete detail and one question the viewer needs answered. Cut any setup that comes before it.

- The turning point first: 'I found out my roommate had been reading my messages for a year.'
- A promise: 'This is how I lost my best friend in one text.'
- A strange fact stated flatly.
Cut the throat-clearing
Delete 'so', 'okay so', and any introduction of yourself. If the first sentence still works without them, keep it that way.
Check it
Read the first sentence aloud, or generate the voice in Zlayo and listen to the first five seconds. If you'd swipe, rewrite it. These are general writing tips, not guarantees.

A short heading at the top can help; it is optional.
Shorter openings are easier to land; one sentence is a good target.
